The School of Education and Social Sciences led today’s chapel service, providing a meaningful time of worship and reflection for the university community. The message was delivered by Dr. Sophie Ahono, Dean of the School, who shared on the theme of holiness from 1 John 2:15–16.
Dr. Ahono reminded the congregation that holiness is not a request but a command from God. She explained that holiness means being set apart, consecrated, sacred, and wholly devoted to God. She challenged everyone to purpose in their hearts to live holy lives that honor Him.
Speaking on “Killers of Holiness,” Dr. Ahono urged believers to be careful where they direct their love. She highlighted the lust of the flesh, noting that the desires of the flesh constantly seek gratification, and encouraged the congregation to walk in the Spirit. She also addressed the lust of the eyes, describing it as a gateway to temptation, and called on believers to guard their eyes and make a covenant with them.
She further shared against the pride of life, reminding the congregation not to place undue importance on titles, achievements, or personal recognition. Instead, she encouraged everyone to acknowledge God as the source of every blessing and accomplishment and to cultivate humility in all aspects of life.
The message served as a powerful reminder that pursuing holiness requires intentionality, humility, and complete dependence on God.
