Today’s service the Library Department staff led the university community during our chapel service. The University Librarian, Ms. Jane Langat, who shared a powerful message from 2 Kings 5:1 on the theme “God Can Change Our Circumstances.”
Using the story of Naaman, Ms. Langat reminded us that a person’s outward success does not always reflect their inward condition. Naaman was a respected commander, admired for his achievements, yet he suffered from leprosy. In the same way, many people carry hidden burdens despite appearing successful. These may include family challenges, strained relationships, workplace pressures, emotional pain, or spiritual struggles.
She explained that leprosy symbolizes sin, which quietly corrupts the heart from within. While people may hide their struggles from others, nothing is hidden from God. He alone has the power to bring healing, restoration, and lasting transformation.
The message challenged the congregation to move beyond outward appearances and embrace genuine repentance. True holiness is not about pretending to have everything together but about humbly acknowledging our need for God. Just as Naaman received healing after obeying God’s instruction, we too experience transformation when we surrender our pride, trust in Christ, and faithfully follow God’s Word.
The chapel message concluded with a reminder that no circumstance is beyond God’s power. Whether we are facing personal struggles, family difficulties, or spiritual battles, God is able to change our circumstances when we place our faith in Him and walk in obedience.
May we continually seek God’s transforming grace and live lives that reflect His holiness as we integrate faith, life, and learning.
